VIDEO: Fuji TV Introduces Awkward Digital Announcer, Lune Anri

Virtual character designed by manga creator Tatsuya Egawa says hello

Fuji TV is making a bold move by introducing a virtual announcer, bringing about visions of the likes of Hatsune Miku hosting shows and reading news on television. Except this announcer, Lune Anri, looks about a decade in the past, visually speaking… Watch the digital talent introduce herself at a press conference as Fuji TV's latest announcer hire in the clip below.

22-year-old Lune was designed by manga creator Tatsuya Egawa (Golden Boy, Magical Taruruuto-kun), but her stilted movements and PSone-era look don't exactly recall the bouncy and lively ladies of Golden Boy

Still, perhaps this bumpy start could usher in a new era of virtual talent, who knows! What do you think of Lune Anri at first glance? The online reaction in Japan has not been favorable, to say the least...
