The latest addition to Crunchyroll's fall anime lineup is none other than BTOOOM!, the Madhouse-produced adaptation of Junya Inoue's survival action manga. The series will stream every Thursday, starting October 4 at 7:00 pm Pacific for premium members, with free member access to follow a week after initial broadcast.
Kotono Watanabe—who previously worked on shows like Chihayafuru and Aoi Bungaku—directs BTOOOM!, with writing by Yousuke Kuroda (Highschool of the Dead, Hellsing Ultimate) and character designs by Puella Magi Madoka Magica's Takahiro Kishida. Kanata Hongō (Ryoma Echizen in the Prince of Tennis live-action film) stars in the show alongside Suzuko Mimori (Kourin in Cardfight!! Vanguard) as female lead Himiko, and Toru Ōkawa (Fullmetal Alchemist's Roy Mustang) as Kiyoshi Taira.
BTOOOM! (page info coming soon) will be available in the following territories: United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Scandinavia, and South Africa.
The action-packed series drops 22-year old Ryota Sakamoto onto a deserted island right in the middle of a real-life version of his favorite online game, ‘BTOOOM!’ Not knowing how or why, he and other players are being forced to fight and kill each other with bombs, called BIMs. Now, having to fight for his very survival, can Ryota survive and find out just what is going on as the curtain rises on this explosive game?
