Nickelodeon Orders Second Pipin' Hot "Ninja Turtles" Season

A 26-episode second season to begin airing next year

It looks like this past weekend's debut of the new animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series went about as well as one could hope, because Nickelodeon has ordered a second batch. 26 additional episodes have been picked up for a second season, which will kick off on Nick next year.

The new series premiered on September 29 at 11:00 am ET/PT, and ranked as the week's top telecast with kids 2-11 (6.2/2.1 million) and boys 6-11 (8.2/837,000) across broadcast and cable TV. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ultimately ranked as the #1 basic cable kids program in total viewership for the week (3.9 million). It also hit a Nickelodeon ratings high with boys 2-11 (7.5/1.3 million), and ended up being Nick's top-rated animated series premiere since 2009.

It's kind of interesting that TMNT still strikes a chord among kids, and it's nice to see their radical legacy continue. Did anyone catch the debut of the new series? What did you think?
