"Namiuchigiwa no Muromi-san" Anime Adaptation Green-Lit

Shounen slice-of-life to bring crazy, alcoholic mermaid to animated life

An anime adaptation of Namiuchigiwa no Muromi-san, a shounen slice-of-life manga by Keiji Najima (St. Pistachio Gakuen), has officially been green-lit. The series, which is currently ongoing, runs in Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine

Namiuchigiwa no Muromi-san follows Takuro Mukojima, a lonely teen who spends most of his time fishing at the pier, but things get interesting when he reels in a mermaid named Muromi. She's not your average mermaid, either (is there such a thing?). Muromi is dense, crazy, and a bit of an alcoholic. Now she appears every time Takuro goes fishing, which is sure to spice up his life.
