Discotek Media Announces "Cutie Honey" TV Anime

DVD boxset to feature complete 1973 TV series

In a bit of good news for Go Nagai and old-school anime fans today, old-school anime specialist Discotek Media has announced its latest license in the 1973 Cutie Honey TV anime series.

The 1973 TV series is adapted from Go Nagai's manga series and was better known for its action sequences and nude transformation sequence, which were novelties in TV anime at the time due to its original intent as a shojo anime, but being changed to a shonen anime soon after due to the series swapping timeslots with another magical girl show.

Because of the change, certain aspects of the series ended up being changed to appeal to boys, which led to the aforementioned action scenes and transformation sequences, as well as more slapstick humor, but still toned down significantly from the original manga.

The series will be released in a complete boxset on DVD next year. Any old-school or Go Nagai fans looking forward to the release besides me?
