Just when Sakura thought she had all the Clow Cards in her deck, somehow they managed to whisk themselves away again. The work of a Cardcaptor is never finished, apparently, and so CLAMP's manga becomes a mobile game set to launch "in a few days" on Mobage.
Players patrol the town of Tomoeda (where Sakura lives) to collect cards and eventually battle bosses (the Clow Cards) to reseal them. A battle deck is made up of "Reader Cards" featuring Sakura, "Action Cards" featuring scenes from the manga, and, of course, any Clow Cards you have already captured.
There are various ways to make your cards more powerful. One, "Card Enhancement," is to combine them with other cards; another, "Card Evolution," is to combine duplicates of cards. Perhaps the way to become strongest is through "Ultimate Synthesis," but there is some risk involved. Leveling "Reader" cards up all the way allows you to hear voice clips featuring the anime voice of Sakura, Sakura Tange (and hence why we went with "Reader" instead of "Leader." The katakana decryption battle may still be waging on...)
Does this tug anyone's nostalgia strings? Do you think CCS will be fun as a social game? I'm wading knee-deep in a Gundam Mobage game right now, but I might give this a shot just for kicks once it's released...
