VIDEO: Mecha Anime "Ginga Kikōtai Majestic Prince" Debut Promo

"Majestic Prince" manga features another story in the same world

The first video of an original anime featuring genetically engineered youth fighting invaders from outer space was released today in conjunction with the opening of the official site. Check out Ginga Kikōtai Majestic Prince:

In the year 2110 the people of Earth have gone into space, gained control of some natural resource-rich asteroids, and have a handle on gene manipulation. Seems peachy, except then pan-galactic empire Ulgar ["urugaru"] invades via the boundary to outer space, Jupiter's orbit. Luckily, the genetically engineered kids of Team Rabbits ["rabittsu"] of the secret service MJP are given state of the art "battle devices," Ash ["asshu"] and sent to the front lines…under the pretext of evacuation? Is that allowed!? It's hard to say whether Earth will be saved or not.

Staff as follows:

Direction: Keitaro Motonaga (Katanagatari, Jormungand)

Character Designs: Hisashi Hirai (Gundam SEED, Fafner of the Azure)

Series Composition/Script: Reiko Yoshida (K-On!, Saint Seiya Omega)

Production: Dogakobo (YuruYuri, Another) and Orange (CG for upcoming Code Breakers, Accel World)

The Majestic Prince manga by Rando Ayamine (known for GetBackers) and new artist Hikaru Arashima, serialized in Monthly Heroes, features a story different from the anime. A boy with genetically engineered S-rank [S for "sarabureddo," "thoroughbread"] genes called Izuru and his friends pass an exam and leave the parents that were chose for them (after all, they are born from capsules) to attend Granzair [our best shot at "gurantseeru"] training school. Hopefully there they can learn how to make full use of their genetic advantage. The first collected volume went on sale October 5th in Japan.
