Google Doodle Celebrates 107 Years of "Little Nemo in Slumberland"

Windsor McCay's comic strip first ran 107 years ago today

Google always finds an interesting way to pay tribute on its homepage, and today's Google Doodle is in honor of Windsor McCay's Little Nemo in Slumberland. The comic strip originally ran on this day in 1905, so Google has taken the opportunity to celebrate the 107-year anniversary of Nemo's first adventure.

You can stop by Google's homepage to see it, or watch it in the video below.

The Little Nemo strip ran in newspapers from 1905-1914, and has since inspired numerous adaptations across a variety of media. For something a little more in our wheelhouse, there's Capcom's 1990 NES platformer, Little Nemo: The Dream Master, and, of course, Masami Hata and William T. Hurtz's 1989 animated film, Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland. Discotek will be releasing the Blu-ray version of the latter on November 6 with both the English dub and the Japanese language track with English subs.

You can purchase McCay's Little Nemo books digitally in the ComiXology store, or simply read them online
