"Deadly Premonition: The Director's Cut" Heads to PS3 in Q1 2013

Release includes new content, visual upgrade, and more

Originally announced by creator Hidetaka "Swery" Suehiro back in March, Deadly Premonition: The Director's Cut is gunning for release on North American and European PlayStation 3 in the first quarter of 2013. The enhanced version includes a graphical upgrade, new content, reworked controls, and will receive additional DLC down the line.

Publisher Rising Star Games offered up details in its press release, confirming involvement with the new release of the cult favorite. Swery added, "It's been a while since Deadly Premonition was released, but I'm still receiving so many messages of support from fans around the world. I'm writing some exciting new scenarios and adding some new features. All will be revealed over the coming months and I'm confident I can deliver an unforgettable experience for you all."

And now, behold the tantalizing box art! Let's hope this is temporary…

For those who missed it the first time around, Deadly Premonition is a suspense horror game that takes more than a few notes from David Lynch's Twin Peaks. Players control special agent Francis York Morgan as he investigates the murder of a beautiful young girl. This isn't your average investigation, however. A killer and supernatural creatures want to put an end to York's manhunt, so you're tasked with surviving while chasing the mystery of the Red Seed Murders.
