Jesus and Buddha Cast for "Saint Young Men"

Mirai Moriyama and Gen Hoshino cast as leads for anime movie and OVA

Two non-anime voice actor talents have been cast in the roles of religous figures Jesus and Buddha for A-1 Pictures' adaptation of Hikaru Nakamura's Saint Young Men, a comedy manga about the pair rooming together in modern Tokyo. Film, TV and stage actor Mirai Moriyama (Water Boys) takes the role of Jesus, while Buddha will be played by musician/actor Gen Hoshino (Akihabara@Deep). An OVA is planned for December, ahead of the spring 2013 movie.

 

 

Animator  Noriko Takao (Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid, The IdolM@aster) steps up to direct, with scripts by live action drama writer Rika Nezu. Animator Naoyuki Asano (the openings for Blood-C and And Yet the Town Moves, four of the last Doraemon films) is handling character designs. A-1 Pictures (Sword Art OnlineBlue ExorcistAnohanaIdolm@sterand Space Brothers) will be producing the project.
