Crunchyroll Adds "Toradora!" and "Kimi ni Todoke" Anime

Toradora! is available now. Kimi ni Todoke will launch tomorrow at 5pm Pacific Time.

Lo! Two more series have just been announced as additions to Crunchyroll’s ever-expanding library of back catalog anime titles: Toradora! and Kimi ni Todoke

Toradora! is available now, while Kimi ni Todoke will launch tomorrow 10/19 at 5pm Pacific Time. Both titles are limited to US and Canada only. Premium users will get all episodes as they become available, while free users will get the first 6 episodes for each title respectively.

The much loved Toradora! began as a series of light novels published by ASCII Media Works before becoming a wildly successful anime that ran on TV Tokyo from 2008 to 2009 that has also spun off into games, OVA, and lots and lots of merchandise.

Here’s the synopsis:

Ryuji Takasu has learned the hard way that appearances can be deceiving. Despite his inwardly sweet personality, his unintentionally sharp gaze and aggressive features give him the air of a delinquent thug, putting his chances at making friends, let alone a girlfriend, next to zero.

It’s Ryuji’s first day as a junior in high school and it seems as if things are looking up. He gets to sit in between his only friend, Yusaku, and, more importantly, the girl he’s secretly crushing on, Minori Kushieda. But just when he thinks the stars are aligned in his favor, he unwittingly crosses the most feared girl in school, Taiga Aisaku, making her onto his arch enemy. To top it off, Taiga has moved in right next door to Ryuji and happens to be Minori’s best friend! Can this school year possibly get any worse?!

Kimi ni Todoke is based on the award winning shojo romance manga by Karuho Shiina and was adapted into an anime that ran on NTV from 2009 to 2010. There’s also been a Kimi ni Todoke live action movie as well as, more recently, a second season of the anime in 2011.

Sawako Kuronuma has had a difficult time fitting in. Some say it's her jet black hair, others say it's her hushed manner of speaking, while still others claim it is due to her name's similarity to Sadako, a character from a popular Japanese horror series. On her first day of high school, Sawako meets the one boy who treats her like a normal girl-Shota Kazehaya.

Through his selfless aid, Sawako slowly learns to come out of her shell and even begins to make friends for the first time in her life. However, with a new social life come social pressures. Rumors begin to circulate about her, her friends, and even the kindhearted Kazehaya. As she grows into her new identity, Sawako must learn to deal with such pressures as well as start to understand the unfamiliar feelings inside of her, especially in regards to the boy who made her new start possible.

Expect another catalog title announcement tomorrow!
