"Dragon Quest VII" Coming to Nintendo 3DS

Last classic port was "Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation" for DS

As one of the most beloved JRPG franchises of all time, it was only natural that a proper Dragon Quest title would make its way to 3DS. DQIV, DQV, and DQVI all saw slightly-upgraded re-releases on the DS, and Square-Enix has announced that the series will continue with Dragon Quest VII: Warriors of Eden on 3DS, set to release in Japan on February 7, 2013. So far, the only detail concerning the re-release is that it will feature orchestrated music from the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra.

No US release date has been announced, but given the positive fan reaction and fairly solid reviews for previous titles, I'd say it's all but definite. The game was originally released Stateside in 2001 as Dragon Warrior VII for the PlayStation, and boasted a totally freakin' insane 100+ hour story. This sucker's gonna stay in your 3DS for a long time.

Are you hoping for DQVII's 3DS port to come Stateside? What other JRPG classics do you want to see re-released for on-the-go adventuring?
