"The Last Story" is a Smashing Success for Publisher XSEED Games

Most successful title in XSEED's history gets cheaper standard edition

XSEED Games took a chance on Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi's The Last Story when Nintendo wouldn't, and it looks like it paid off. XSEED Executive Vice President Ken Berry announced the Wii RPG as the publisher's most successful title to date, and now a new standalone version is heading to retailers throughout North America for a discounted price of $29.99.

Remaining copies of the premium launch edition—which comes packed in a custom box with a 44-page softcover art book—are also being discounted to $39.99.

Though XSEED didn't share specific sales numbers, it's nice to see that fans followed through and picked up the long-awaited, Mistwalker-developed RPG in North America. Who here picked up The Last Story when it originally dropped?
