"Skyfall" Dethrones "Evangelion" in Japanese Box Office

Latest James Bond flick ran on 584 screens - 355 subtitled vs. 229 dubbed

It had to happen sooner or later. Evangelion 3.0 ruled the Japanese box office since its November 17th opening, but that entry plug has finally been ejected. Skyfall grabbed the top spot this past weekend with nearly 400,000 moviegoers buying 455 million yen ($5.5 million) worth of tickets opening weekend.


The latest James Bond flick ran on 584 screens - 355 showing the subtitled version versus 229 for dubbed.


Skyfall opened 69 percent bigger in Japan than Casino Royale, and 49 percent ahead of Quantum of Solace,

It you want to do a bit of anime chest thumping, Skyfall's first two days box office were 40% of EvangelionAlso, the number three spot was the latest Inazuma Eleven anime feature.
