Last month it was revealed that Jamie Foxx was in talks for a villainous turn as Electro in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and that bold casting choice has been confirmed over at Entertainment Tonight. Foxx joins the cast along with Dane Dehaan (Tetsuo Andrew Detmer in Josh Trank's found-footage superpower film Chronicle), who will take on the role of Harry Osborne.
Foxx, speaking to ET's Nancy O'Dell:
"Electro is a great character … I met with the director, Mark Webb, I met with Andrew Garfield, and we talked. … I think Electro will be an exciting character to play because he's a … genius electrician-type person, and he gets the short end of the stick from the whole world, and the next thing you know he turns it on."
So Harry Osborn and Electro, AKA Maxwell Dillon, are in play for The Amazing Spider-Man 2, but we could be in store for more announcements down the line. Emma Stone and lead webslinger Andrew Garfield also return in the sequel, which is scheduled to premiere in 3D on May 2, 2014, with production starting early next year.
