Bizarre "Danganronpa" Murder Mystery Games Slated for Anime Adaptation

Seiji Kishi directs anime based on Spike Chunsoft's games

Spike Chunsoft's (Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi) DanganronpaThe Academy of Hope and the High School Students of Despair games have big casts of interesting eccentrics. They have Higurashi/Battle Royale brutality. And, there's been an enthusiastic fan response. So, it's hardly surprising that they're getting an anime adaptation.


Seiji Kishi (Angel Beats!, Humanity Has Declined, Persona 4: The Animation, Astro Fighter Sunred) helming a 2013 anime remake with his Carnival Phantasm collaborator Makoto Uezu writing.

The sequel game Super Danganronpa 2: Farewell School of Despair, which took bizarre murder mystery adventure game and transported the who-done-it investigation/trial from the titular school to a strange island, was released in July.
