The anime version of pioneering piloted mech Mazinger Z debuted on Fuji Television in December 1972 (the manga predated it by two months). In honor of the seminal rocket-punching robot's 40th anniversary Bandai is releasing a prestige DX Chogokin Mazinger Z with full internal diecast skeleton, removable armor and light and sound gimmicks.
Mazinger fans with four decades to save up can expect to pay 36,750yen ($445) to recapture their childhoods.

Speaking of anniversaries, Bandai's Tamashii label has showcased the interchangability of its Super Robot Chogokin figures with a cross-over site featuring Mazinger, Gurren Lagann - celebrating its fifth anniversary and its Gainax sibling Gunbuster - which will be 25 in 2013.
