Last month XSEED Games discussed the possibility of localizing the sequel to Unchained Blades, but said they'd have to wait until they ironed out the Nintendo eShop release of the first game. Well, it looks like that last bit is cleared up, as XSEED announced Unchained Blades for a January 3, 2013 release in North America.
The dungeon-crawling RPG—which was developed by FuRyu and released in Japan as UnchainBlades ReXX—will be available to download from the 3DS eShop for $29.99.
Unchained Blades features the direction of Lunar's Toshio Akashi, with a story by Grandia's Takashi Hino. Japanese artists who collaborated on the project include Pako (Shining Force), who designed lead character Fang, as well as Toshiyuki Kubooka (Lunar), Shinichiro Otsuka (Summon Night), Kazushi Hagiwara (Bastard!!), and more.
XSEED's synopsis, from the press release:
Unchained Blades follows the story of the vengeful dragon emperor named Fang. After being stripped of his powers by the goddess Clunea, Fang embarks on a journey for revenge, hoping to regain his true form. Along the way, Fang is joined on his quest by a cowardly golem prince, a shy medusa priestess, a young phoenix clan maiden, and many other mythical beings seeking to meet with the goddess.
