"Drifters" Anime Promo Included on Final "Hellsing Ultimate" OVA Release - UPDATED

Short anime adapts "Hellsing" author Kohta Hirano's historical warriors versus fantasy manga

The release of the tenth and final episode of the Hellsing Ultimate OVA is being packaged with a bonus anime short/promo for manga author Kohta Hirano's follow-up series Drifters - about especially belligerent and zealous warriors out of history (Oda Nobunaga, Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid, Hannibal, Joan of Arc, Hijikata Toshizō and so on) transported to a fantasy world where they either protect the elves and dwarves or side with the epic's evil overlord.

Yūichi Nakamura (Gray Fullbuster from Fairy Tail, Sōshi Miketsukami from Inu x Boku SS, Kintama's Kintoki) plays the particularly violent samurai Shimazu Toyohisa, who history records died fighting off an ambush in the Battle of Sekigahara that paved the way to the Tokugawa shogunate. Animator Ryoji Nakamori oversaw the two and a half minute short.

There's currently no indication of plans for further Drifters anime. The ongoing manga is released in North America by Dark Horse.
