Japan's Population Dropped by Record Number in 2012

Japan's total population 125.95 million and shrinking

Japan has woken up to some sobering news on New Year’s Day.  The Ministry of Health has reported that the population of the Land of the Rising Sun decreased by 212,000…the largest ever decline rate on record since counting began in 1947.

Maybe in the future, this will be looked back on as "the good old days"...

The number of births fell by 18,000 to a record low of 1.03 million in 2012. Meanwhile, the number of deaths in Japan last year is believed to be 1.245 million. So yeah, more people are dying than being born now, which is how your population begins to decline…

What’s worse, the Ministry believes that the pace of decline will only increase as Japan’s youth population dries up.

It sure doesn't look like the population is declining, but I guess the Ministry of Health wouldn't lie...

So what’s the solution? Ban moe 2D wives? Encourage young people to stop messing around and have kids? Create machine bodies that cannot die like in Galaxy Express 999? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated…
