Magazine Shows First "Kaio: King of Pirates" In-Game Screenshots

Anime and manga series also on the way in 2013

The cast of Keiji Inafune's Kaio: King of Pirates game already look primed for their anime adaptation in a page out of V Jump magazine. The scan offers our very first look at screens of the 3DS game's action, as well as some info on the cast of characters. Peep the bottom of the image for a brief introduction to Eag, Chobi, Wukan, and Peguin.

As Siliconera explains, Eag is described as Peguin's friend and rival, Chobi is the strongest of Peguin's men, Wukan is the cool-headed and smart member of the crew, and Peguin has a strong sense of justice and camaraderie.

Kaio is inspired by the Chinese literary classic Romance of the Three Kingdoms—characters battle over the Lucifer Coin in hopes of ruling the ocean as king of pirates—and the 3DS game appears to have ship battles in addition to the regular combat.

Former Capcom producer and key Mega Man mastermind Keiji Inafune is leading development, and Marvelous AQL will publish the game in Japan sometime in 2013. In addition to the previously mentioned anime, manga adaptations will also debut this year.
