VIDEO: "Lupin" Creator's "Roman" Anime Comes to Life in Promos

Series based on pachinko game debuts in Japan on January 7

Didn't get enough of Monkey Punch's style with Lupin the Third: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine? You're in luck, because the pachinko game CR Ginroku Gijinden Roman—which features original characters designed by the Lupin creator—is kicking off its anime adaptation, Bakumatsu Gijinden Roman, on January 7. Now we can see the Bakumatsu era thievery in action thanks to a pair of promotional clips below.

Roman follows a helper named Manjirō, who dashes through the night and steals back precious items for people under the guise of a thief named Roman.

The series is produced by TMS Entertainment and directed by Hirofumi Ogura, who previously helmed Black Butler II and The Knight in the Area. Cast members include Kazuya Nakai (Zoro in One Piece, Mugen in Samurai Champloo) in the lead as Roman, Eri Kitamura (Karen Araragi in Bakemonogatari) as Koharu, Kenichi Suzumura (Okita Sougo in Gintama) as Magoichi, and Maaya Uchida (Rea Sanka in Sankarea) as Okuni, among others.
