Lineup for EVO 2013 Fighting Game Tournament Announced

Fans can vote for the eighth title to appear in the upcoming "world series" of fighting games

The Evolution Championship Series 2012 (EVO for short) had some really impressive moments, all culminating in a series of exciting final matches. The final stop of the year's fighting game "season" has revealed the lineup for 2013, with two new titles joining a handful of recent favorites. The games appearing in this year's competition are:

Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition ver. 2012

Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3

Street Fighter X Tekken v2013

The King of Fighters XIII

Mortal Kombat (2011)

Persona 4 Arena

Tekken Tag Tournament 2

There's an eighth slot for an as-yet-undecided title, but you can cast your vote in this Facebook poll. While it's nice to see Persona 4 Arena getting some love (I finally picked the game back up just last night), I'm surprised that Super Smash Bros. Melee is dominating the vote.

UPDATE: Games that did exceptionally well in the poll have been entered for a second round of competition. SRK is now holding a donation drive to determine what the eighth title will be--whichever community donates the most for their game will have their title featured at EVO 2013, with all the proceeds going to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

While I think the most exciting matches will once again go to the KoF XIII competitors, I'd love to see what happens with P4A and Street Fighter X Tekken, especially since the latter is much more interesting and competitive after its extensive update. Which game do you think will have the best showing? What fighting games would you like to see at EVO 2013? Do we have any Skullgirls or PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale players?
