"Hyouka" Blood Drive Planned

For those who can't stop thinking about needles

Kyoto Animation's mystery anime Hyouka featured a parody of the Straw Millionaire folk tale, in which a poor man makes the right trades starting with a piece of straw such that he ultimately wound up fabulously wealthy. Recently, the Japanese Red Cross has been organizing otaku blood drives, allowing fans to trade some mls for a character poster, which some fans turn around and play Straw Millionaire to sell.

A Nanoha poster given to donors at Comiket 83 sold on online auction for  27,500 JPY ($316).

A promotion based on last year's hit Hyouka is being planned for later this month. The specific location for the  Hyouka X Blood Donation” drive and the design for the clear file reward have not been finalized.
