January and February are a bit of dumping ground for Hollywood movies that lost out in the shuffle for better spots on the calendar. The Keanu Reeves headlined Hollywood 47 Ronin was supposed last Thanksgiving. Universal Pictures then picked up that flick and moved it into February 2013, before delaying to Christmas '13.
As troubled as the movie has been, February '14 looks within the realm of possibility.
If the movie had been release last year, here's what the promotional campaign might have looked like.
Promotional material that has been used has been notoriously bad...
The movie stars Keanu Reeves, Rinko Kikuchi, Hiroyuki Sanada, Tadanobu Asano, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, Yorick van Wageningen, Kou Shibasaki, Togo Igawa with Carl Rinsch directing.
The source material is regarded as a national legend, the tragedy informed Japanese notions of samurai ethics. Statements suggest that the Hollywood version is going to be bit more fantasy. Beyond that, early buzz hasn't been exactly positive. There's been talk of production problems, reshoots, and a complete footage blackout.
