"Warcraft" Movie Finds Director

Low budget sci-fi director Duncan Jones gets the nod for 2015 fantasy blockbuster

A Warcraft movie has been a long time coming. Perhaps too long. Legendary Pictures (Batman, the upcoming Godzilla) picked up the fantasy game series rights in 2006 and announced it at BlizzCon 2007 with a projected 2009 release. Spider-Man's Sam Raimi was a prospective director. The infamous Uwe Boll went running for it. But, finally, someone has been hired.


Duncan Jones, director of the highly regarded low budget sci-fi Moon, and the positively received Source Code (also son of the legendary David Bowie), will be stepping up to handle the blockbuster, with production planned for this fall ahead of a 2015 release.


The Charles Leavitt (The Mighty, K-PAX) scripting dating back to BlizzCon '07 is said to take place within the World of Warcraft storyline.
