First it seemed pretty likely that Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game's long-awaited online multiplayer + playable Wallace Wells DLC was finally ready to land on PSN and XBLA. Then it seemed entirely certain when Ubisoft released a trailer confirming the February 5/6 release. Unfortunately, delay strikes again, with Ubisoft holding it back for fine-tuning and more.
Destructoid got word from Ubisoft, and here's the publisher's official statement on the matter:
The downloadable content for Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game has been delayed for fine-tuning and to incorporate feedback from the passionate Scott Pilgrim community. Ubisoft is addressing feedback from the community on the best ways to honor retro games in the Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game DLC in an accurate and respectful manner. Ubisoft, and the new team developing the DLC, respect creative properties and, of course, want to be sure to deliver a game experience that is a proper tribute to the Scott Pilgrim franchise.
A post on Joystiq ponders whether or not this has to do with some sprites that look very familiar to those used in Sonic Battle on Game Boy Advance. Hopefully we'll hear word on a real, actual, final, we-promise-this-time release date soon.
