Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate is heading to Nintendo 3DS next month, but there's a possibility that it might not be the follow-up's last stop. While talking to CVG, Konami UK studio head Dave Cox said they would absolutely consider it, and all the assets were originally created in HD.
"We created everything in high definition," Cox said. "All the textures, all the levels, high-poly models, everything—and we kind of shrunk it all down into the 3DS."
Some characters lost a few bones here and there in the process, and texture resolution was dropped, but according to Cox, they have an HD version of the game "sitting there in a computer somewhere."
For now, though, Mirror of Fate is strictly Nintendo bound. "We want as many people to play it as possible," Cox added. "Obviously we have an exclusivity deal with Nintendo right now though and they've been very supportive of the product."
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate hits Nintendo 3DS in North America on March 5. If you haven't seen the game in action yet, Konami released a trailer last month promising an epic 20-hour adventure. And if this production art doesn't get you hyped, nothing will:
