VIDEO: Actress Elizabeth Olsen says Hollywood "Godzilla" is Going Back to Original Japanese Film's Roots
Bryan Cranston also in talks to play lead
Last week, movie industry trade magazine Variety reported that Elizabeth Olsen (the upcoming Oldboy remake) and Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad, voice work on a few anime, including a Macross Plus lead) were in talks to star in Gareth Edwards (Monsters) directed Legendary Pictures remake of Godzilla. Olsen then appeared at the BAFTAS and commented on plans for the project.
Last month, Frank Darabont (The Walking Dead, The Mist, The Shawshank Redemption) was hired to provide a final rewrite on Max Borenstein's script. At last summer's Comic Con, Edwards promised a "very grounded [and] realistic" movie.
