VIDEO: "Akira" Creator's "Short Peace" Anthology to Open in Japan This July

Trailer previews anthology of short anime from top artists

Going at least as far back as the days in which Osamu Tezuka was creating the mold for televised anime with Astro Boy,  shorts were as a alternative venue, in which animators could experiment and make artistic make artistic statements. Japan will soon get a chance to see some of the best presenting their latest.

 

After screening pieces like this "Combustible" at venues Hiroshima International Animation Festival, Akira creator Katsuhiro Otomo and Gundam studio Sunrise for Otomo's Short Peace anthology are ready to present their new Short Peace anthology. The project, bringing together the likes of Redline’s Katsuhito Ishii, Freedom's Shuhei Morita and Super Robot Wars mechanical designer Hajime Katoki opens is Japan July 20th.
