The original Wii version of Donkey Kong Country Returns was yet another successful product of Retro Studios, who really made a name for themselves with the Metroid Prime series. According to the Australian Classification Board, however, Retro is not in charge of the 3DS port, Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D.
Instead, developer Monster Games—the team behind Pilotwings Resort—has taken the baton. While Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D is likely in good hands, it does raise one interesting question: What's Retro Studios up to? Last year Shigeru Miyamoto said the developer is "too busy" to handle something like the Zelda franchise. While that would have been cool, I'd love to see what they could do with an original property.
