Fire Emblem: Awakening—which made its debut on Nintendo 3DS in North America last month—has plenty of pay DLC in the pipeline, but Nintendo is also offering up some freebies via SpotPass. First up is a map called "A Hard Miracle," which is available today, with more free content to come through spring.
SpotPass, for those new to the handheld, is a 3DS feature that allows content to be automatically downloaded to 3DS through wireless Internet access points. All you have to do is opt to receive content in Fire Emblem: Awakening.
More maps and special items are due out over the next few weeks. "Ghost of Blade" offers up a haunted tale about a ghost and the ultimate sacrifice on March 28; "The Wellspring of Trust" tosses in a bunch of tough enemies on April 11; and "The Radiant Hero" has Chrom and his allies searching for a legendary hero on an isolated island on April 25.
As for those free special items, they include weapons, playable characters, and bonus challengers for Awakening's Double Duel multiplayer.
