The Takarazuka Revue theater troupe has announced their second musical adaptation of a Capcom game will be Sengoku BASARA. The Takarazuka Revue is an all-female musical theater troupe in Japan that will celebrate their 100th anniversary next year.
One of their 5 troupes and the main troupe, Flower troupe, will produce the musical and the story will focus on Sanada Yukimura. Their first Capcom game musical was by the Cosmos troupe, Prosecutor Miles Edgeworth: Ace Attorney 3, and it was a hit that brought in people who otherwise would have never come to see a conventional Takarazuka musical.
Capcom initiated their first collaboration with Ace Atterney, but this time, it was the Takarazuka Revue that came to them for Sengoku BASARA musical, according to game producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi at Capcom. Kobayashi is happy and suprised at the same time to be able to work with the Takarazuka troupe, because in fact, the romance between Kasuga and Kenshin in the game was inspired by Takarazuka musical theater. This is the franchise's first musical production.
