As announced at their PAX East panel today, Capcom and WayForward (Contra 4, Double Dragon Neon, Mighty Switch Force) are teaming up to bring NES classic Ducktales back to consoles. Ducktales Remastered gives the platformer a spitshine on Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network, and Wii U this summer.
As you can see, the sprite graphics of the 1989 original have been given a look closer to Disney's cartoon series (which is still excellent, by the way!), and the backgrounds are now 3D. The levels and layout were used as a foundation on which WayForward expanded significantly, and Disney voice talent from the cartoon has been added as a cherry on the nostalgic sundae.
There's also a new tutorial level and Scrooge McDuck's Museum, where players can track all their stats and compare progress with others on global leaderboards.
I'm not a huge fan of the backgrounds yet, but if they keep the amazing music intact, I'll be picking this up for sure. Actually, I'm going to go ahead and assume Jake "virt' Kaufman is on the music, so I'm pretty sure it'll be incredible.
