Next "Etrian Odyssey" Game Gears Up for Japanese Release in June

"Millennium Girl" remakes the first "Etrian Odyssey" game for 3DS

Details from the this week's issue of Japanese gaming mag Famitsu shed some light on the next entry in the Etrian Odyssey series of dungeon-crawling RPGs. While we just got Etrian Odyssey IV in North America, Japan is getting ready to revisit the first game with a remake that's scheduled to hit Nintendo 3DS on June 27.

New Etrian Odyssey: Millennium Girl will reportedly put a stronger focus on story and characters as we follow our spear-wielding hero, who the Etria administration tasks with exploring mysterious ruins. Throughout his journey, the lead runs into characters like Frederica Irving, an amnesiac Gunner; Simon York, a Medic well-versed in monsters and ancient civilizations; Arthur Charles, an Alchemist who is part of Simon's investigation team; and Lakuna Sheldon, a humble Paladin who hails from a family of nobles.

Etrian Odyssey III director Shigeo Komori is at the helm for Millennium Girl, with Yuzo Koshiro returning to provide his typically incredible music. Shin Nagasawa is handling monster designs, while Yuji Himukai works on designs for the characters. Etrian Odyssey (Sekaiju no Meikyū) was originally released on Nintendo DS in 2007.
