"Skullgirls" Crowd-Funding Successful, Five Characters to Join Roster

First of the new characters, Squigly, to arrive in mid-July

The Indiegogo crowd-funding campaign for Lab Zero Games' Skullgirls fighter recently ended with a major bang. What started as a goal of $150,000 ended up netting the team $829,829, and fans will be reaping the rewards with a total of five additional characters.

All stretch goals but the very last one were met, and Lab Zero will be accepting additional PayPal donations on their website over the next couple of weeks.

The upcoming additions to Skullgirls' roster begin with Squigly, pictured below, who will be added to the action in mid-July alongside Skullgirls' PC version, which will be used to beta test the new characters before they're added to other platforms.

Other revealed characters include Big Band and Robo-Fortune. The third and fifth characters are mysteries decided by user votes. Most of the new characters will also come with new stages featuring fresh tunes from composer Michiru Yamane (Castlevania: Symphony of the Night).

As if the folks at Lab Zero weren't already cool enough, they even managed to raise $1,000 specifically to include the gamin' girls of the Kawaiikochan comic as background characters. Congrats to Skullgirls and all who contributed.
