The Faces Behind "Flowers of Evil"

See the people behind the rotoscoped animation

If you followed the lead into the debut of this season's adolescent psycho-drama anime Flowers of Evil, you knew to expect something distinctive. Director Hiroshi Nagahama (Mushishi) said as much about the show's rotoscoped traced live action approach. And the fact that none of the previews showed character animation further telegraphed the impact.

Now, the first episode is out, and wow is it divisive.

The series' official site has been updated with a look at the rotoscoping process, character portraits and the people behind the traced animation.

Site portraits of the leads

Character voices  (Yōko Hikasa, Mariya Ise, Takao Kasuga )
