If you followed the lead into the debut of this season's adolescent psycho-drama anime Flowers of Evil, you knew to expect something distinctive. Director Hiroshi Nagahama (Mushishi) said as much about the show's rotoscoped traced live action approach. And the fact that none of the previews showed character animation further telegraphed the impact.
Now, the first episode is out, and wow is it divisive.
