Happy 25th Anniversary to "My Neighbor Totoro"

Studio Ghibli co-founders Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata's "My Neighbor Totoro" and "Grave of the Fireflies" released on April 16, 1988

25 years ago today, Studio Ghibli co-founders Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata released a pair of anime's most beloved and powerful movies with a double bill of My Neighbor Totoro and Grave of the Fireflies. Borrowing from memories of the country house that his family evacuated to during World War II and his mother's battle with spinal TB, Miyazaki's story of a family encounter with forest spirits is both personal and nearly universally adored. So, let's all wish the Ghibli classics a happy 25th!
