"El Shaddai" Director Acquires Rights to the Game

Takeyasu Sawaki's studio secures game's IP from Ignition Entertainment

Stylish action game El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron came and went in 2011, and the property has been relatively quiet since, despite becoming somewhat of a cult hit in Japan and spawning a GREE social game. Now, thanks to negotiations between studio Crim and Ignition Entertainment, the IP is back in the hands of its director, Takeyasu Sawaki.

As the official release states, "This acquisition entails prequel, sequel and all other derivative rights of the existing game … Crim will work with the entertainment industry to develop a potential El Shaddai business moving forward."

Great news for fans of the game, which we definitely were when it launched. Hopefully we'll learn more of Sawaki and his studio's plans for the franchise in the not too distant future.
