Early Promo Photo From Live-Action "Kiki's Delivery Service" Revealed

Filming for adaptation of original novel starts this month

We're about a year off from Ju-On and The Grudge director Takashi Shimizu's live-action Kiki's Delivery Service, but with filming starting this month, there's already a photo of 16-year-old lead actress Fuka Koshiba in costume.

When cast, Koshiba said she was physically preparing for the role by taking 200 practice swings with a bokuto (wooden sword for practice) every day.

Shimizu's first non-horror film, based on the original novel series rather than Hayao Miyazaki's 1989 Studio Ghibli anime adaptation, is scheduled to be released in Japan in Spring 2014. Shooting is getting under way on an island of the Seto Inland Sea of Japan.
