Around ten years ago, getting friends to play shooters was always a hard sell for me--if they were on PC, they didn't want to play Counter-Strike or Team Fortress Classic, and my console gamer friends refused to play Halo or TimeSplitters. Along came Star Wars: Battlefront, a massive team-based shooter set during all six films, and I suddenly got a bunch of new meat for the grinder battle buddies eager to mix it up.
It's been eight years since Pandemic's insanely fun Star Wars: Battlefront II, and finally EA has answered the prayers of Star Wars fans with an all-new Star Wars: Battlefront, powered by Battlefield's impressive Frostbite 3 engine! Check this trailer:
Okay, that didn't really show us much, but holy crap I cannot wait to get in there and disprove the whole "Stormtroopers have awful aim" thing. So far, EA and DICE haven't given any more details, but we'll keep you updated on a release window and which platforms it's available on--my money's on a 2014 release on PS4, XBox One, and PC. Are you looking forward to storming the Battlefront?
