Sony, please quit playing games with our hearts. While speaking with GameTrailers, Sony Computer Entertainment America CEO Jack Tretton said Team Ico's The Last Guardian is on hiatus, but that statement has since been corrected.
Tretton's original quote:
"I think the cool thing about our worldwide development studios is we have so many projects out there from so many great teams … Projects never ultimately go away, so The Last Guardian has certainly not gone away, but it's on hiatus right now."
Shortly after, Sony's head of worldwide studios, Shuhei Yoshida, stepped in to tell Kotaku Tretton's statement was misleading. "The game is in active development. [Lead designer Fumito] Ueda-san shared updates a few months ago. Nothing has changed. My answer is, 'Yes, the game is in active development.' It's not [on] hiatus at all. But we are not ready to reintroduce it. When we are ready, we will do that. Please wait."
The Last Guardian was first revealed at the 2009 Tokyo Game Show, and was originally due out for PlayStation 3 in 2011.
