Natsume Yujincho comes back as a reader's theater on stage in Japan this fall. Theater production company, Sound Theater teams up with talented voice actors from Natsume to reproduce the world of Natsume Yujincho on stage using reading by the actors, orchestral music and aroma to stimulate the audience's every sense.

The play is structured like so: There will be 2 plays in each performance and 2 performances of each play for the day and night shows are planned. Play 1 will be based on episode 8 "Hakanai Hikari" from the first season of the anime adaptation and Play 2 will be original stories written by the theater's writer, Fujisawa Bunou for the day and night show performances of Play 2.
The Sound Theater Project was started in 2009 by Fujisawa Bunou who practiced theater production in London and Paris. Upon his return, he started Sound Theater Production to incorporate the techniques he accuired in Europe and produced a new style of reader's theater. Sound Theater has worked with many voice actors including Hirata Hiroaki (Mutta from Space Brothers, Wild Tiger from Tiger & Bunny), Sawashiro Miyuki (Kanbaru Suruga from Bakemonogatari, Celty fom Durarara), and Yamadera Kohichi (Kaji from Evangelion, Spike from Cowboy Bebop).
9 voice actors from the show will be in the play. Besides 5 of the main cast photographed above (from left, Suganuma Hisayoshi, Inoue Kazuhiko, Kamiya Hiroshi, Horie Kazuma, and Kimura Ryohei), Kuwashima Houko, Hamada Kenji, Shimozaki Hiroshi and Matsuyama Takashi will join the cast. Music for the play will be performed by Yoshimori Makoto, who was the music producer for Natsume Yujincho anime.
The stage will be on September 28th at Tokyo Kokusai Forun A hall. Tickets will be on sale from July 14th for 7,500 yen.
