FUNimation Confirms "Ghost In The Shell Arise" License

Limited Edition import of first volume also confirmed

FUNimation has quietly announced its acquisition of the Ghost in the Shell ARISE prequel OVA project ahead of the Japanese theatrical premiere slated for next week. Pricing and availability have yet to be confirmed at this time

While the distributor has confirmed the usual home video and theatrical rights along with confirming theatrical screenings of the first two episodes, FUNimation will also be offering its first sub-only release with a 2,500 copy run of the first limited edition volume, which will include the Japanese O-card, Blu-ray discs, and film strip from the Japanese edition along with an English translated art booklet.

The release format marks the first time that FUNimation will attempt sales of a sub-only, limited edition release, as the distributor has released all of its anime library with English dubbing until now, though the roots of this release can be found in its customer surveys, which were used to determine interest in such releases in 2011 and 2012.

As previously reported earlier today, the GitSChannel YouTube channel is streaming the first 8 minutes of the first episode on YouTube, which can be seen below:
