VIDEO: "Mega Man Legends 3" Lives on in NES-Style Fan Game

Series composer and character designer on board for Prototype build

The fan demand for Mega Man Legends 3 burns on, and the latest development is especially cool. Since Capcom neglected to release the MML3 prototype on the 3DS eShop, a group of fans decided to make it themselves in the form of an NES-style 2D game.

The announcement was made at this weekend's Mega Rock Fan Fiesta, a fan event held in Shibuya, Tokyo. The "Get Me Off the Moon" Facebook group revealed a project from their Japanese team, DASH 3 Reboot, which is handling the development of the 8-bit Prototype remake.

The coolest part of the news, however, is that they're also teaming up with former Capcom staffers on the project. Character designer Hideki Ishikawa will handle the game's box art, and composer Makoto Tomozawa will contribute a couple of tracks to the project. It's all currently in development, and you can see some of what they've put together so far in the trailer below.

A demo is set to arrive in the next week or so, and the final product is tentatively scheduled for an August release. The team is accepting donations, with details listed within the Facebook link above.
