Xbox President Don Mattrick Departs Microsoft, Joins Zynga as CEO

Press release confirms move to social game company

Reports were flying around today about Microsoft's President of Interactive Entertainment Business, Don Mattrick, leaving the company to join Zynga. It looks like those were all spot on, because a press release went out in the afternoon confirming Mattrick's new role as Chief Executive Officer at Zynga.

Founding CEO of Zynga, Mark Pincus, will remain Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Product Officer.

Microsoft came under a lot of criticism lately with the shaky debut of its upcoming Xbox One console. Following the outcry of many fans, as well as an E3 showing from Sony that distanced itself from anything similar to Xbox One's restrictions, Microsoft pulled back and reversed planned DRM such as the 24-hour online check and disc sharing policies.
