Unemployed Man Arrested for Selling Pirated "Amnesia" Mouse Pads

The suspect said, "I thought I could make a lot of money"

Hokkaido Prefectural Police's Iwamizawa Station arrested a 26-year-old unemployed man on July 17 on suspicion of selling mouse pads featuring anime characters without the copyright holder's permission. According to the police, the suspect sold 15 mouse pads using the characters from the Amnesia anime series and some others to 4 men and women in Sapporo-city and Osaka-city for about 16,000 yen (US$160) in total on online auction sites between January 19 and February 4.

 

An officer of the station found during the cyber patrol that the man put up the items at lower prices than the genuine products. The suspect confessed to his crime and said that he thought he could make a lot of money. Please be careful with pirated goods, and do not purchase them under any circumstance.

 

The 12-episode TV anime adaptation of the popular PSP otome game Amnesia was broadcasted in Japan

from January to March 2013.
