I don't know about you, but Final Fantasy has never really been about sex appeal to me.
Fran aside. See alla y'all at the next FurCon, or whatever it's called
Regardless of what you might think of Final Fantasy's occasional sexy side, it's generally agreed that Final Fantasy XIII leading lady Lightning lives up to her namesake--she's beautiful and powerful and majestic, but incredibly lethal at the same time. She's the type of girl who'll beat you half to death if you come on to her with a lame pun like I did in the headline.
For the upcoming Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, though, that's all going to change, as director Motomu Toriyama has implemented some... unexpected changes to Lightning's design. Check out these bits from a recent interview with Famitsu:
Famitsu: Is it true you said you wanted Lightning-san’s size [changed] from a C cup to a D cup?
(Character Modeling Designer) Nobuhiro Goto: Toriyama-san said “I want it bigger” so…
(Director) Motomu Toriyama: [What a] cop-out! (laughs)
Goto: Yes, it was enlarged.
Famitsu: Was it a C cup until now? Does it even jiggle this time?
Dengeki Online dug deeper into this Earth-shattering story, bringing up the absolute most important question about this development:
Dengeki: I heard that the chest jiggles?
Goto: Yes, her chest jiggles. Since everyone can decide what costume she’ll wear, you can make sure it does (laughs). By the way, since Lightning swings her arm when you change her weapon in the menu screen, that’s a recommended action for sure-fire jiggling! To see it even better it could be useful to equip a small shield. Look forward to it!
So there you have it, folks. Lightning is sexy. Well, sexier now, I always thought she was kinda hot in that "Ronda Rousey is gonna fold your laundry while you're still wearing it" kinda way.
Please, not the face. Glasses are expensive.
To be honest, I'm a little disappointed by this--Final Fantasy XIII-2 was actually surprisingly good, and very quickly fixed a lot of the stupid, infuriating crap I had to put up with for fifty interminable hours in the original Final Fantasy XIII. While Lightning Returns' development team is looking to further refine the gameplay, this whole ordeal kind of takes some of Lightning's edge off for me. But what about you? Does a newer, sexier Lightning sound like a good idea for Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, or is it a dealbreaker for you?
