VIDEO: "Pokémon X" and "Pokémon Y" Get Stronger with Mega Evolutions - UPDATED

Next entries in the series hit 3DS worldwide on October 12

Some new details on Pokémon X and Pokémon Y recently popped up in Shogakukan's CoroCoro magazine, the biggest being the reveal of "Mega" evolutions for certain Pokémon. As reports, the magazine shows some new forms and details how they can be achieved.

Among the Mega Pokémon are MegaBlaziken, MegaAbsol, MegaMawile, MegaMewtwo, MegaLucario, and MegaAmpharos. Each has its own ability, such as MegaMewtwo's Insomnia, MegaLucario's Adaptability, and MegaBlaziken's Speed Boost. Pokémon that can Mega Evolve can only do so while holding a Mega Stone, which is like an Evolutionary Stone with specific items. Mega Evolutions are also temporary forms used only in battle.

Finally, the first Japanese event for Pokémon X/Y will be a distribution of Torchic from October 12 to January 15.
