Gamers Have Spent 2.85 Million Years Playing "Call of Duty"

For the record, human beings as we know them have been around for about half a million years

Love it or hate it, Call of Duty is one of the most popular, most-played, most-bought video game franchises today. Hell, even I've been bitten by the bug--even after giving Black Ops II a less-than-stellar review, I keep going back to its multiplayer because of how mindlessly relaxing it is.

I excel in catching bullets with my face, and disarming mines with my feet. Tell your guild leaders!

Activision has released a startling infographic showing just how much people love Call of Duty--specifically, the time people have spent playing the series since Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was released in 2007.

Like I mentioned in the lead, homo sapiens (that would be us) has been around for about 0.5 million years, but genus homo (our entire "family," including Neanderthal man and other ancestors) has been around about 2.5 million (source), meaning holy crap, that is a lot of time spent quickscoping and dropshotting.

I was going to say something snarky about this, but 1- I've contributed to that and 2- we've run several stories about people living off of Call of Duty, so... yeah. Nothing that surprising. Still, it's insane. What do you think? On that subject, what games have you spent far too much time on?
